Sophie Farrar

My work centres on creating a continual exchange of dialogue between people and places, objects and environment.  Throughout this process the public remains a crucial component, directing and determining the outcomes of my work. Through collecting and archiving, I create an ephemeral portrait of forgotten communities, most often exploring the relationship we have with older generations. Using a clinical aesthetic, my final outcomes retain a sense of distance from what is most often private subject matter.  Placing this work far from the gallery setting ensures a continual flux in context, where social engagement remains key.

I would like to thank Jane Rose and all the staff at The Grainger Market for their continued help and support.
