My work has become an investigation into relapsing, specifically continuous relapsing.

I explore themes of dependency, ritual, routine, repetition and struggle, and am concerned by the unfathomable and incomprehensible.

Due to their material qualities, I work primarily with paper, thread, wool, and tape. Paper is fragile, similar to one who continuously relapses, whilst tape and thread emphasise ideas of crisis and destruction.

I want to make work, which never escapes the piece preceding it. Each sculpture is regurgitated from the last, transported to different locations and added to. With each instance the piece becomes more battered and torn; I endeavour to feebly stitch or tape it back together. I am attempting to embody a relapse: longer, harder and more severe each time it occurs.
