It is in the allegories of darkness and light, the conscious and the unconscious, the animal and the spiritual that Tish finds the material for her work. |
Some have described my paintings as 'abstract' but to my mind they are firmly based on specific concepts expressed through colour and texture. Those concepts concern the ancient signs and symbols embodied in myth, legend and hermetic philosophy, which still inform our consciousness today. |
Her paintings use colour and texture as a symbolic language. More recent investigations of 'hybrid' symbols have addressed the power of our innate understanding.
Since graduating from Cleveland College of Art and Design (University of Teesside) in 2006 with first class honours in Fine Art, Tish has exhibited extensively in Tees Valley and North Yorkshire, with work in several private collections in the U.K. and Europe. One of her paintings, Aurora Consurgens, is the centrepiece of the new atrium link at Hartlepool College of Further Education. She is a member of MAP: Artists' Network for the Tees Valley and Cluster, an independent group of exhibiting artists based in the wider Tees Valley area. Tish is married to Robin, a solicitor, with a son and daughter at university. She lives and works near Richmond, North Yorkshire. Email: bloom@midtyas.wanadoo.co.uk UK: 01325 377133 |
