My work is concerned with stereotypes and the identity of the people in the area where I live. Due to constant negative press, many people assume that those in hoodies are threatening or violent, sometimes reacting instantly to the presence of “a chav”. This stereotype is one which occurs throughout the UK. Through a confrontation with my life-like sculptures I hope to alert the viewer to their reaction and judgements when they encounter a person in a hoody.
