The built environment is central to my work, response to void spaces within urban landscape, how buildings and structure jostle for form and function, being built up and torn down, creating a ‘theatre of construction’ that arises from various needs of people –from very practical to very spiritual. Within this process of making and unmaking wasteland and building-sites occur.
Engagement with these sites of ‘raw energy’ to has lead to an exploration into the temporary nature of architecture. Empty spaces seem eager for new stories and new histories. Architecture offers a platform for this to happen, buildings become known for the events that happen within them, then they are knocked down -like clearing the stage for the next buildings and events to take place.
Working with a fusion of sculpture, architecture and film. I construct films on location, which are only complete when appropriately sited in the studio or gallery.
